1. Novel Technologies for Prevention, Detection, Assessment and Management of Animal Health and Welfare
I work on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of fish diseases and alternative strategies (bacteriophages).
The Department of Fisheries Health was established in 1998 within the Fisheries Central Research Institute. The fish diseases laboratory has started to operate actively since 2000. Our department's laboratories are equipped with devices and equipment to carry out basic research on viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal diseases in fish. There are 3 veterinarians, 1 molecular biologist, and 1 veterinary health technician working in the department.
Our work;
• Research on infectious fish diseases and epidemiological studies:
• Project studies are carried out on epidemiological research on viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections in natural and farmed fish species with economic value.
• Molecular genetic diagnostic techniques for viral and bacterial factors (cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR)
• Molecular genetic diagnosis techniques are used in the investigation and diagnosis of diseases of viral and bacterial origin and in the typing of the factors.
• Experimental infection tests with bacterial and virus strains isolated as a result of the disease,
. Conducting bacteriophage isolation and characterization studies
