1. Novel Technologies for Prevention, Detection, Assessment and Management of Animal Health and Welfare
Our goal is to quantify animal health and welfare using individual animal sensor data, providing traceability throughout the supply chain. While the use case for such data on the farmer's site is crystal clear, the use case for such data on a national or even international level must be proven.
With nearly four years of experience, we have collaborated with several research partners to meet their diverse needs, including delivering raw data, developing custom stationary and mobile hardware solutions, and conducting big data pre-analysis. Additionally, we offer expertise in machine learning and its commercialization.
Initially, BioCV aimed to facilitate live welfare monitoring and establish a farm-to-fork system by sampling data from individual animals and transmitting it to veterinary offices. This system was also intended to detect epidemiological events and manage their spread through controlled interventions within the supply chain.
In this endeavor, we developed a Bluetooth ear tag capable of collecting activity and temperature data from individual animals with minimal to no user input. Our system is built to detect and manage lameness, fertility, and sickness data; nevertheless, the original use case of monitoring welfare is still a topic we want to promote.
