2. Fundamental Research for Animal Health and Welfare
We are currently performing research into the relationship between waterlevels on peatland and the prevalence and impact of liver fluke on animal health and welfare. We are looking to further extend this research and the knowledge with other institutes and among farmers.
Research at Aeres University of Applied Sciences: Our professors, teacher researchers and students carry out practice-oriented research together with partners in education, industry and government agencies. In this way, we want to play our part in innovations in the field, and develop our own educational and professional practice. This is our contribution to the development of scientific knowledge and insights.
Healthy animals are the basis of every sustainable cattle farm, and therefore, it is not without reason that animal health and animal welfare form an important element of the cattle sector. With the Cattle Health Management professorship, Aeres Hogeschool Dronten respond to developments in the Dutch cattle farming sector. The professorship not only focuses on animal health but on the relationship between animal welfare and societal acceptance as well. Which preventive measures can cattle farmers take to keep their livestock free from disease? How do we ensure that healthy cows stay healthy?
