1. Novel Technologies for Prevention, Detection, Assessment and Management of Animal Health and Welfare
I am an ethologist working as a researcher in animal welfare for organic farm animals at the Norwegian Centre for Organic Agriculture (NORSØK) in Norway. I finished my PhD about dairy cow-calf contact in February. There is also another ethologist working here, and some veterinarians. We have been working on many different projects regarding welfare, behavior and health for cattle, pigs, poultry and sheep. We are interested in collaborating with others on a project about e.g. free-range pigs, free-range poultry or cow-calf contact. We hope that some one are interested and will contact us very soon!
The private, independent foundation NORSØK is a national centre for the development of organic agriculture through interdisciplinary research and outreach. NORSØK also manages an organic farm. Our work is based on the four principles of organic agriculture: health, ecology, fairness and care. NORSØK and the farm are located in Tingvoll in Møre og Romsdal county. NORSØK contributes knowledge for increasing the sustainability of agriculture and society. Our staff covers a wide range of expertise, and provides a broad range of research, consulting and outreach services. NORSØK’s main areas of expertise are organic agriculture and food production, environmental science, sustainability and renewable energy. NORSØK currently has a staff of 27 employees. The managing director is Ms. Turid Strøm.
