1. Animal Welfare
OO4-2: Develop technologies to assess welfare on-farm and/or during transport, including slaughter- line innovations and suitable animal-based measures (ABMs).
• OO4-3: Improve procedures and technologies for welfare assessment during slaughter or emergency killing, ensuring reliable detection of consciousness and death.
OO6-5: Develop innovative systems for the transport of livestock and fish.
NMBU is a full EUPAHW beneficiary and an approved Norwegian research organisation eligible for Research Council of Norway (RCN) funding under this call. The university provides internationally recognised expertise in animal health, welfare, and sustainable food systems, combining veterinary science, biosciences, and data‑driven approaches. NMBU can coordinate or participate as a funded partner and contributes to both terrestrial and aquatic research domains. Its strong interdisciplinary environment and research infrastructure ensure high-quality delivery of EUPAHW‑aligned objectives, including surveillance, welfare assessment, disease prevention, and integrated socio‑economic analyses.
