1. Animal Welfare
Bioname is looking to collaborate with partners in animal welfare, veterinary science, aquaculture, livestock production, microbiology, ecology, and environmental monitoring. We are particularly interested in projects that require DNA based welfare indicators, microbial community profiling, microbial early warning signals, environmental sample based monitoring (water, soil, manure), or sequencing based assessment of production environments. Bioname can contribute laboratory workflows, eDNA methods, metabarcoding and advanced bioinformatics to support molecular welfare assessment and monitoring frameworks.
Bioname is a Finnish DNA analysis and bioinformatics company specializing in sequencing, pathogen detection, and microbial community profiling. We provide high quality laboratory workflows and data analysis to support animal welfare in both aquatic and terrestrial systems. Our expertise includes DNA based organism identification, microbial community shifts as early warning indicators of welfare and health risks, eDNA analysis for detecting biological and environmental quality indicators, and environmental sample based monitoring from challenging matrices such as water, soil, manure, and tissue. We develop sequencing‑based monitoring systems and bioinformatics pipelines for large and complex datasets. We also understand the animal welfare legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to applying these monitoring tools in practice.
