We would like to work on detecting with different type of camera systems, including X-ray and CT-scanning, defecits in animals to measure welfare. This information would be used in the production chain by farmers, transporters and meat processing companies to improve welfare and health of animals; i.e. projects in OO4-2 and OO4-3.
We would like to extent our work in X-ray scanning of bone fractures, to other deficits like keel bone fractures, or to proof of concepts, or to other animals at slaugther, like pigs, goats, and dairy cows (lameness, mastitis, pleurisy)
The veterinary public health group (UU IRAS VPH) is interested in all aspect of animal production from transport to the fork of the consumer on animal welfare and food safety aspects. In our running core projects we detect with visual cameras, X-ray and/or CT scanners fractures in wings, pathology in internal organs, and asymmetric deformations on animals. The data is transformed to information for meat producers, transport companies, and farmers. We analyse the pictures and base decision taking on AI modelling that we do in-house.
