1. Animal Welfare
We are interested in collaborating with European partners active in algae production, animal nutrition and sustainable livestock systems. We specifically seek algae producers with available by‑products or waste biomass, feed and livestock companies, and public research institutes with expertise in animal health, nutrition, toxicology and life‑cycle sustainability assessment. Collaboration with partners experienced in regulatory aspects of feed safety and in up‑scaling innovative feed ingredients is particularly welcome, to ensure that algae‑based solutions can be translated into practical applications for different farming systems.
IZS Sicilia is a public veterinary research institute within the Italian national animal health system, with statutory responsibilities in animal health surveillance, diagnostics and applied research in food and feed safety. The institute has strong expertise in analytical chemistry, including advanced methods (e.g. LC‑MS/MS, HRMS) for the detection of contaminants and the characterisation of emerging raw materials for feed use. By combining laboratory analysis with field activities in livestock farms, IZS Sicilia is well positioned to support the development and validation of safe, sustainable algae‑derived feed ingredients and to contribute to European research projects on circular and climate‑friendly animal production.
