I have developed Preval LAP, a behavioural refinement platform that operationalizes positive welfare in pigs through voluntary cooperation, calm postures, and acceptance of clinical handling without restraint. Proof of concept is validated with systematic visual evidence (photos, videos) and has received positive feedback from The Roslin Institute and SRUC.
This work directly addresses EUPAHW Call 2, Topic OO4 1 ("indicators of positive emotional states via behavioural, endocrine, and neurological measures").
I am available immediately and have sufficient material (video summary, one-pager, visual dossier) to support a competitive application. My ORCID is 0009-0004-7754-0387. A short video demonstration is available here:

Preval‑LAP Project
Independent research initiative based in Cuba, focused on developing behaviour‑aligned refinement platforms for pigs in biomedical and welfare‑science research. The system was successfully developed and validated under resource‑limited conditions, demonstrating robustness, accessibility, and strong welfare potential.
Our work combines practical clinical experience with systematic behavioural observation to create tools that promote voluntary cooperation, calm postures, and low‑stress handling. We have produced a functional prototype and a scale model demonstrating a unidirectional entry system, addressing key design limitations. The project is supported by extensive visual documentation (photos and video) and has received positive informal feedback from researchers at The Roslin Institute and SRUC.
Preval‑LAP aligns directly with EUPAHW Call 2, Topic OO4‑1 (positive welfare indicators). We are currently seeking a host institution in an eligible country (UK preferred) to employ the principal investigator as a predoctoral researcher within an EUPAHW‑funded consortium. Immediate relocation is possible upon grant approval.
