2. Prevention and Control
We are interested in participating in an international consortium focused on disease prevention, control, and treatment, particularly in aquaculture, under the Collaboration Interest Topic 2 (Prevention and Control). Our primary area of interest is to provide a platform for experiments in projects with the following objectives: developing and validating protection and control protocols against bacterial or viral diseases in aquatic animals; identifying and standardizing physiological and behavioral welfare indicators; and generating comparative data for disease monitoring or alternative food supplements to antibiotics. We can conduct experimental infection induction trials in our laboratories, especially in freshwater fish. We can also plan and implement feeding studies and food additive trials. We can contribute to the development of diagnostic kits for diseases. With our team experienced in the isolation and identification of viruses and bacteria across our bacteriology, virology, histopathology, and molecular biology laboratories, we are open to leading work packages.
Description of your organization: Istanbul University – Faculty of Aquatic Sciences, Department of Aquatic Animal Diseases. Our department is a well-established academic research unit specializing in fish and shellfish physiology, nutrition, biotechnology, microbiology, and fish health. The faculty possesses a stream-based experimental unit consisting of 12 + 8 tanks suitable for controlled experimental challenge studies, as well as specialized laboratories for monitoring fish welfare and health. Our research group has extensive experience in international collaborative projects and in the design of experimental aquaculture and infection induction.
