2. Prevention and Control
We have developed a tool for monitoring broiler chicken behaviour using cameras and are currently working with three major chicken producers (in the UK, Poland and the US). This tool has been successfully deployed on over 500 commercial flocks for welfare assessment. It also predicts outbreaks of Campylobacter days or weeks before clinical signs appear. However, we are now keen to develop its potential monitoring other diseases and are working with a major broiler company to help them reduce their use of antibiotics by anticipating signs of infection before mortality starts to rise.
We are looking for a partner to help with veterinary analysis and disease detection.
Ability to help with the evaluation of the economics of early warning of disease would also be welcome.
The University of Oxford offers expertise in a range of relevant topics including work on anti-microbial resistance, statistical analysis, AI and animal behaviour.
